Everyone has their own style, which leads them to break the rules. However, when it comes to your wedding day, there may be some rules that you want to follow. After all, it is the one most important day of your life, and you absolutely must look your best. If you need or want some help accessorizing your wedding gown, these tried-and-true tips may be what you are looking for:

Tip #1: Do Not Go Overboard

The most important thing that you want to remember when shopping for wedding jewelry is that you don't want to overdo it. Sure, it is tempting to wear as much jewelry as you can, but this day is about you and not about the jewelry that you are wearing. Your wedding day is one of those times when less is more. So, you will want to focus on a few essential pieces.

Tip #2: Match the Metals to Your Gown

If you are having a hard time choosing between silver and gold, never fret. All you need to do is consider the color of your dress. White gowns tend to be best paired with silver or platinum jewelry, while ivory gowns look best paired with gold jewelry. If your dress is a champagne or beige hue, you will want to opt for gold jewelry or burnished silver if you are going for an antique look. Blush gowns look beautiful with rose gold jewelry.

Tip #3: Take Your Gown's Neckline into Consideration

Your neckline plays a huge role in the type of jewelry you will select. If your gown has a strapless or sweetheart neckline, you will want to try to direct everyone's attention to your face. To do this, you can do several things. You can choose a short necklace or a choker. Alternatively, you can skip the necklace altogether and choose a pair of statement chandelier earrings. You could also wear a cocktail ring, bangle or small bracelet.

If you have a V-neck gown, you will want to opt for a pendant, choker or both (if layered). Depending on your hairstyle, you can opt for a pair of small or dangling earrings. If you have a gown with a halter or reverse halter neckline, you will want to avoid a necklace altogether. Therefore, your jewelry focus will need to be in your hair with combs, pins, and/or vines. You can also opt for a cocktail ring and bracelet.

Above all else, just remember to shop for jewelry that is a reflection of your individual personality and style. Contact a store to help you buy jewelry for more information and assistance.
